Four years after the Apparitions, on 18th January 1862, the Bishop of Tarbes recognises the Apparitions as authentic in the name of the Church.

Lourdes is the major place of Roman Catholic pilgrimage and of miraculous healings.
Today Lourdes hosts around six million visitors every year from all corners of the world.
