Feast of the Immaculate

The wonderful and touching film The Song of Bernadette (1943), with Jennifer Jones, narrates the story of Lourdes. The young girl Bernadette Soubirous had 18 apparitions of the Virgin Mary, from 11th February to 16th July 1858, at Massabielle Grotto. Here is the first apparition. (5':46")

Such a moving scene.
Thank you, Pietro, for this original and unexpected offering to mark the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Bon fete.

Piétro, I've never seen this movie. But as soon as I 'll have the opportunity, I'll watch it. According to you and Dina, I trust you, it's certainly a good choice.
Too bad we have to watch these old movies on DVD nowaday, because of our "poor" TV programmes. I guess in Italy it's the same as in France! More channels, less quality.
Have you seen "Monsieur Vincent" with Pierre Fresnay telling about St Vincent de Paul's life?

(to answer to your question, yes,SW pictures have been taken from my window. You know perfectly my area : )
Bon Dimanche Piétro.

Interesting. From a long family of protestants, I must have a different view than you. But the innocence of the girl is touching.

I was a big Jennifer Jones fan when I was younger. I have always loved the older movies. This is a gem. Thanks, Pietro.

Really a touching scene, Pietro! Jennifer Jones was very beautiful. I saw many movies with her... long time ago... Thanks for sharing.

Have a nice week.

Hi Pietro, me again.
I mean "have a nice weekend".

Oooh, I have seen this film when I was a little girl. I loved it! And since I went to a Catholic school run by nuns, of course we heard all about St Bernadette.

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comments. Enjoy the week ahead!

Thanks for this! I love old black and white films, they don't make them like this any more. It would be nice to see the whole film.

I'm not Catholic but have always wondered about "Lourdes." That is part of the name of a Catholic school in our city.

Very nice film clip. It makes me curious about the rest of the film!

Hello Pietro!
How've you been?
I've never seen the movie.
I'll see it after writing this comment.
By the way...

How romantic!

Da bambina anchio al mattino trovavo i regali attorno al letto, e ricordo un anno di che ero andata a messa con la bambola in braccio, ero una bambina molto viziata dal papà, e capricciosa,
