Waning Moon

About lunar phases, we have the proverb: "Gobba a ponente, luna crescente. Gobba a levante, luna calante", that is: "Westward hump, waxing moon. Eastward hump, waning moon".
When the moon is a "D", this means waxing moon; when the moon is a "C", this means waning moon.

Fantastic colour contrast!

Catherine
What a frame you choose, Pietro for this delicate and transparent moon. It's as if the top of the trees indicates the direction.
Bon week end.

what a beautiful moon for skywatch Pietro!

The first thing that captures my eye in that shot are the trees, because they're wonderfully composed. Then I saw La Luna... and I am mesmerized. It's small, but it sure is beautiful.

RYC: Thank you for reading that boring post of mine :P And I will check out the site you mentioned!

The colour of the sky is amazing. the sky here is much milkier.

In Australia I noticed the sky was a very deep blue, deeper even than your photo - and there they did not see a C or D like we do, but they see a boat or a bowler hat, and funny enough, the people I asked could not tell by the shape if it was waning or waxing!

 gmirage
What time was this taken? I see sometimes faint hint of the moon in the morning thats why I asked. Wonderful sky! Happy weekend!

Hi Pietro! I see that you have reduced the activity here to the sky watch pics; but they're awesome! I wonder if you caught last Wednesday's full moon...

Want to have a look at a magic place: Delos, Apollo’s birthplace and home to Dionysus sanctuary? Blogtrotter has it! ;))
Hope you enjoy! Have a great weekend!

Gosh........I love your eyes.

Thank you, Pietro, for the lesson about the 'c' and 'd' of the moon - this is a handy way to remember whether the moon is waxing or waning that "Louis" had never known.

The colours make me jump for joy!
